With over 75% of its 92 million hectare landmass being suitable for crop cultivation, Nigeria has all the resources to position itself as one of the world’s leading exporters of agricultural produce. The North-West region of the country has climatic conditions similar to that of China, the largest exporter of raw cotton. The north eastern region has a climate similar to that of Mexico, the largest producer of onions and pears. The climatic conditions of the South-West, South-East and South-South regions of Nigeria are comparable to those of Cote d’Ivoire, Malaysia and Thailand the largest producers of cocoa, palm oil and rice respectively.
